* Louisiana allows for the Governor to declare Memorial Day a holiday. According to the Governor’s website, the 2004 proclamation was made on April 22 and last year’s proclamation declaring the day as a state holiday was not officially made until May 11. At the current time, no proclamation has been issued for this year. While the state has historically allowed for that day as a holiday, until the proclamation is issued, a definitive answer cannot be given.
